After a few easy weeks for the horses over the holidays, we are once again gearing up for show season. We start with a few shows at The Barracks just down the road and at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, before we head down to Gulfport, MS for three weeks in March. Dudley and Roland Park started 2016 off with a bang, earning a championship in the Amateur-Owner Hunter division at the Barracks the second weekend in January.
Allie’s foal, Mardi, will be one year old on February 17. She’s quite sassy and still pretty darn cute! We work with her a little on basic manners, but mostly she spends her time in the pasture with the three ex-polo ponies, eating grass and growing.
With such a warm December, the pastures stayed unusually green through the holidays, but now winter is definitely here! The retirees are very furry but happy in their pastures despite the advent of cold weather. Artie (“Authentic”) is hairy and fat and almost unrecognizable as the fancy show horse he used to be, but is loving his retirement out in the pastures with Pucci. He still enjoys having us groom and fuss over him though!
